Austin Theory is steadily building his reputation as one of WWE’s up-and-coming talents, showcasing his skills on television each week. The young wrestler has established himself as a formidable champion, with a solid record as the United States Champion, and continues to develop his abilities with each passing match. That being said, it seems Jim Cornette believes Theory looked flat after WWE RAW this week.
On the latest episode of WWE RAW, John Cena made a highly-anticipated comeback and was visibly emotional upon hearing the cheers from the live audience.
He got into a fiery exchange with Austin Theory and eventually agreed to face him in a blockbuster match at WrestleMania 39.
It was largely a one-sided beatdown, as John Cena verbally obliterated Austin Theory in the promo and ended up setting up their match at the Show of Shows.
While speaking on the latest edition of Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru, Jim Cornette talked about Cena and Theory’s promo. Cornette stated that he believes Theory looked flat after the promo.
Unless that this complete dressing down by Cena motivates Theory to change something, to do something that is demonstrably visible to the fans he’s going to come out and lay him out physically or he’s going to change his attitude in a way that he’s got a killer instinct or he suddenly does something even Cena remarks on, ‘that’s what I was looking for’ or something like that, I can see that.
If they start this way it would be a big swerve then or unexpected if Theory does win the match, which I still think would be possible without people setting the seats on fire and it’ll probably help Theory. But if they’re not gonna do anything like that between now and WrestleMania, I don’t know. They’ve got to, because they just left this guy flatter than a f**king turd in a punch bowl.”
As previously reported, John Cena produced the aforementioned segment himself, as the company trusted him to properly produce the whole segment.
We will have to wait and see how WWE will book Cena and Theory’s feud in the coming weeks. After all, fans are looking forward to seeing Cena compete at the Grandest Stage Of Them All.
