MJF retained the AEW World Title at Revolution, and that was a big move for him. He defeated Bryan Danielson in a brutal iron man match, but he drew the most headlines after throwing a drink on a young fan.

According to Sean Sapp behind Fightful’s paywall, WWE planned a spot on RAW with a water throwing idea. These plans were already in place prior to MJF tossing tequila on that young fan at Revolution.

There was also originally a segment in which a wrestler would throw a drink in another’s face during a match on Raw. Throughout the day there were some backstage that heard of the plans and thought that it was a shot at AEW, or a reference to MJF throwing a drink on a child at AEW Revolution. We can confirm, however, that this was already in the plans that were sent to many within WWE even before AEW Revolution went on the air, as much of the creative structure was done by that show.

Tony Khan didn’t seem very happy at all with MJF for throwing that drink on the young fan. Although MJF tried to play it off like a typical heel, it’s likely that he won’t try that stunt again.

We will have to see if AEW references this liquor throwing incident again on their programming. MJF certainly drew a lot of attention from the matter, and now anyone who tosses a drink in someone’s face will have to deal with that reference for a while.
