Jeff Hardy struggled with personal demons that caused him a great deal of pain over the years. Even then, Hardy remained one of the most beloved pro wrestlers around. That being said, Matt Hardy recently claimed that his brother Jeff has a different mindset about rehab this time around.
Jeff Hardy’s recent arrest for driving under the influence after leaving a concert at a Florida Dave & Busters made headlines for all the wrong reasons. Unfortunately, this is not the first time he has been arrested for DUI, as it marked his third arrest for this offense in the past decade.
Following his arrest in June, Jeff Hardy was suspended from AEW without pay until he finished substance abuse treatment. As previously reported, Jeff Hardy’s DUI case is now officially closed. Due to this, his driver’s license is now suspended for a decade.
While speaking on the latest episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy’s brother Matt talked about Jeff’s road to recovery. Matt Hardy claimed that his brother has a different mentality about rehab this time, and further explained how things will be different in general.
“He just went into it with a different mentality,” Hardy continued. “He’s never been this scared before. I think one of the biggest things you’re going to see about Jeff Hardy going forward is how he wants to share this story, and try and help other people now. That’s something he’s been very adamant in already.”
Jeff Hardy has faced substance abuse issues throughout his life and career. However, his older brother believes that a new mindset is what will enable Jeff to stay on the right path this time. Matt Hardy hopes that Jeff can use his story to help others who are struggling with similar issues.
Jeff Hardy is still a member of the AEW roster. However, he will only be able to return from suspension “upon successfully completing treatment and maintaining his sobriety.” We’ll have to see when he will be able to return.
