Mercedes Mone walked out of WWE, and Vince McMahon’s booking, in May 2022. It took a few months for fans to see her next move, but her decision to bid WWE farewell was made all too clear when she showed up at Wrestle Kingdom 17 for NJPW. It didn’t take her very long at all to pull down the IWGP Women’s Title as well. Despite all that momentum, some fans would still love to see her make an AEW debut.

During the media scrum after AEW Revolution, Tony Khan was asked about Mercedes Mone’s current status with AEW. She debuted for NJPW, but she hasn’t ventured to Tony Khan’s company yet. The former Sasha Banks and Tony Khan might have spoken in the past, but he didn’t admit to anything.
I have a ton of respect for the IWGP Women’s World Champion. She is a tremendous wrestler. I wouldn’t wanna comment on any discussions I’ve had with any wrestler who is a free agent, in particular, a wrestler who is a champion for one of our partners, but I have a ton of respect for that great wrestler. That’s someone that any pro wrestling company would be very fortunate to have her wrestling for them.
Mercedes Mone is still fulfilling her commitments as IWGP Women’s Champion. Only time will tell if she ever finds her way to AEW, because another Forbidden Door event could very well make that happen.
Tony Khan doesn’t want to talk about any discussions he might have had with Mercedes Mone. A lot of things could play into making a big deal happen like that, and her interest in a WWE return down the line could certainly have a lot to do with things.
Do you think Mercedes Mone will ever end up in AEW? Does she need to eventually make a WWE return? Sound off in the comments section!
