Bret Hart is a WWE Hall of Famer, and his in-ring skills earned him all the fame and recognition a pro wrestler would ever want. However, he truly changed after what transpired during The Montreal Screwjob. Hart also tends to say things that really rile people up and even recently claimed that he does this because he speaks the truth.
Bret Hart is still a huge name in the world of professional wrestling and his influence in the business is certainly without equal. In fact, he is still a huge part of pop culture in general right now.
Bret Hart maintains that he always speaks the truth, whether he’s sharing his perspective on some of the wrestling industry’s most significant controversies or criticizing Goldberg. While some may assume that Bret is resentful about aspects of his career in wrestling, he asserts that he simply expresses his thoughts and understands that some individuals may disagree with him.
While speaking to Sunday Night’s Main Event, Bret Hart reflects on his career and the happy and difficult moments he shared with his longtime friend and tag team partner, Jim Neidhart. He feels blessed to have an abundance of memories with Jim, even more than Jim’s own wife.
Despite his outspoken nature, Bret has always been a content and truthful person, often speaking up to provide proper perspective in the wrestling industry. He acknowledges that sometimes the truth can be painful, but he remains steadfast in his honesty and his story has never wavered, even during difficult times such as the infamous screw job incident with WWE.
I’ve been happy a lot of times. I had a great career, I think back to some of my happiest memories, some of my hardest memories with Jim Neidhart when we were slugging it out. I’m blessed with so many Jim Neidhart stories, more than anyone else ever. Even my sister Ellie [Jim’s wife] doesn’t have as many Jim Neidhart stories. I have a lot of great memories, I’ve had a great career. I’ve always been, contrary to what people may think, I’ve always been a pretty satisfied and content person. I speak the truth, sometimes I rile people up by being a little direct and outspoken, but in the end, I tell the truth. If you don’t like the truth, you probably don’t like what I’m saying sometimes. I never lie, I never exaggerate, I just tell the truth. Sometimes it’s not necessary to be so honest, but sometimes it’s important to put things into the proper perspective.
Wrestling is a very ill defined business that people don’t understand and people form opinions and people don’t always have all the information. Sometimes, you have to speak up for yourself. WWE, for example, is a big machine that promotes their side of things and when the screw job happened, I was suddenly just a wrestler out of business having to tell his side of the story. If you look back on it, I told my side of the story. I’ve always been a guy…my story has never changed. That’s the thing about me, I tell the truth. Sometimes, the truth hurts, and that’s unfortunate.”
Bret Hart also recently landed a role in an upcoming stalker film. Bret Hart will always speak his mind at the end of the day and that is unlikely to ever change by the looks of it.
