Roman Reigns made a stunning return to the WWE a few years ago, and his impact was nothing short of extraordinary. Within a short period, he established himself as a dominant force by winning the Universal and WWE Championship, thereby solidifying his position as the undisputed champion. That being said, Roman Reigns also knows how to have fun when he wants to. In fact, Reigns was seen nailing a Paul Bearer impression in a resurfaced video.
For decades, WWE Superstars have delivered unforgettable moments on the microphone that will be etched in fans’ memories forever. Some of these moments have even become iconic catchphrases that are recognized and imitated worldwide.
The late Paul Bearer, a licensed mortician in real life, served as a manager for several years in various territories across the USA. He managed notable WWE Superstars, including ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, ‘Ravishing’ Rick Rude, and The Ultimate Warrior in their early careers, portraying his persona of Percy Pringle.
Paul Bearer gained global popularity when he joined WWE in February 1991 and took over as the manager of The Undertaker from Brother Love. With his eerie demeanor and high-pitched voice, Bearer proved to be the perfect complement to the menacing Deadman. He soon gained his own talk show segment, The Funeral Parlour, which added to his popularity.
During this period, Paul Bearer’s famous catchphrase “Ooooh yes” became a regular feature of WWE programming. He continued to use the catchphrase throughout his WWE tenure, and fans fondly remember it. At WrestleMania XX, Bearer’s voice echoed across the arena before The Undertaker’s return as the Deadman to face Bearer’s ‘son’ Kane, much to the delight of fans.
Bearer’s memorable catchphrase has inspired thousands of impressions over the years. Recently, footage has surfaced of current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns delivering a spot-on impression of Bearer. This footage is older, at least a decade, and it was included in one of WWE’s home video releases.
It is evident that Roman Reigns has a talent for impersonating former WWE Superstars, as he recently imitated ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes, the late father of his WrestleMania 39 opponent, Cody Rhodes, on this past Friday’s SmackDown.
