WWE’s Elimination Chamber event was the go-home pay-per-view before WrestleMania this year, and a lot was riding on the results of those matches. It turns out that WWE had to change around the finish for Brock Lesnar’s match, because his WrestleMania match needed to change as well.
We previously reported that Brock Lesnar rejected a WrestleMania match against Bray Wyatt. Now, Bobby Lashley will take on Bray Wyatt and Brock Lesnar is going to face Omos. There was a time when Lashley vs Wyatt was still the plan, and when that destination match changed, the company needed to alter Elimination Chamber.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE had to change up their plan for Elimination Chamber due to Brock Lesnar’s WrestleMania direction. The original plan called for Lesnar to beat The Almighty clean, but when his WrestleMania match was changed from Bray Wyatt, then that meant the finish of the match needed to be adjusted as well.
Originally, what was going to happen, was Brock was beating Bobby Lashley at Elimination Chamber. That was going to lead to Bray Wyatt vs Bobby Lashley, which is why they did that interview, but once they did that, they had to change the finish.
WWE has a lot of money invested in both Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley, but they have a considerable amount more money on Lesnar’s name. We’ll have to see how WrestleMania shapes up on April 1st and 2nd when the even goes down in SoFi Stadium. The road to WrestleMania has certainly been an interesting one so far.
