Brock Lesnar is set to throw down with Omos at WrestleMania 39. This is not the match that a lot of fans wanted to see. In fact, there were a lot of other options, and now we have confirmation that Brock Lesnar himself rejected one of the more popular alternatives.
We previously reported that WWE went through a lot of options for Brock Lesnar’s opponent. Bray Wyatt was even a valid option at one point in time, but they moved on from the Eater of Worlds. As Ringside News exclusively reported, Omos was not even WWE’s first back-up after Steve Austin fell through as Lesnar’s opponent.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed this situation a bit. He confirmed that the reason why Bray Wyatt vs Brock Lesnar isn’t happening is because the Beast Incarnate rejected the match.
Brock Lesnar, this was also not the original idea, but it was an idea. One of the ideas was Brock Lesnar vs Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania, and Brock said no to that one, which doesn’t surprise me in the least.
It was noted that Brock Lesnar, with his current WWE character, doesn’t need to get involved with “hocus-pocus,” and that’s what Bray Wyatt brings to the table. The exact reasons why Lesnar rejected a match against Wyatt were not revealed, but this could have certainly played into things.
Brock Lesnar also might have heard the legend that anyone who faced Bray Wyatt during his last run needed rehabbing on their character afterward. Only time will tell how WrestleMania turns out, but it was Brock Lesnar’s call to nix a possible match against Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 39.
