Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler are considered one of the best tag teams in the pro wrestling world now. They were also part of The Pinnacle, which MJF had started a couple of years ago. They eventually disbanded and now it seems Hardwood believes the faction was dead on arrival.
On the March 10, 2021, episode of AEW Dynamite, The Pinnacle was formed with MJF betraying Chris Jericho and the Inner Circle. The faction comprised MJF, Wardlow, FTR, Shawn Spears, and Tully Blanchard.
The faction ended after Wardlow turned on MJF earlier last year. Many fans felt that The Pinnacle had a lot of potential, but that potential was never truly realized in a meaningful way.
While speaking on the latest episode of FTR with Dax Harwood and Matt Koon, Dax Harwood talked about The Pinnace. He mentioned a tweet by Shawn Spears recently, where Spears called the group dead on arrival. Harwood agreed with the statement and explained why.
“Spears is going to get more heat than I am, thank you Spears, you take some away from me. Spears is finally branching out and understanding how good he is and that he doesn’t always have to keep his mouth shut if he doesn’t want to. (The group was DOA) because, I think, one person in the group probably thought that he was bigger than the group, maybe, and probably felt that this was just designed for him, maybe. Maybe he wasn’t the only person that thought that.
I didn’t think at first we thought that. At first, someone, and maybe a couple of other people outside of our group too, felt this was a vehicle for just him and them. We felt, us and Wardlow, I say us being me, Cash, Spears, and Wardlow, felt that if we all worked together, we could all get over and we could all get each other over. Obviously, Max was going to be the main event guy winning the world belt. We know that. We felt everybody could benefit from this group, and in turn, benefit who we individually worked with, and in turn benefit AEW’s business. It just didn’t pan out that way.”
In August 2022, FTR and Wardlow reunited and teamed up for AEW All Out. However, the reunion was short-lived as they quickly went their separate ways due to different storylines and programs. Additionally, Shawn Spears rejoined the group in October 2022, but his return was not long-lasting as he was subsequently absent from television.
