Surprising Babyface Turn Will Play Into WrestleMania Angle

WWE is on their way to WrestleMania, and that included a rather surprising babyface turn along the way. The road to WrestleMania will include many things to build toward those in-ring collisions, and it could include more Superstars than those who are actually involved in the marquee matches.

Santos Escobar is now a babyface and sharing respectful promos backstage with Rey Mysterio. That was not expected, but it will certainly play into Mr. 6-1-9’s road to the show of shows.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the recent storyline developments between Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio. It was said that Santos Escobar will likely play a role in this angle in the weeks to come, because his babyface turn came out of the blue for this angle.

There’s got to be a reason why they linked Rey and Santos Escobar, so maybe Santos Escobar, you know Dominik and Judgment Day do something and Rey has to make the save, because they were pushing the hell out of, you Rey and Dominik, and the people really wanted Rey to hit him, and Rey didn’t hit him, and we have to be getting pretty darn close to that one. Santos Escobar has to fit in there somewhere, because the whole Rey and Santos Escobar thing came out of the blue.

It was interesting that WWE switched Santos Escobar to the babyface side of things in such sudden fashion. We’ll have to see what’s next in this situation, but the road to WrestleMania could include a twist or two for him as well.
