Hulk Hogan left an indelible mark on the sports entertainment industry. Throughout his illustrious career, Hogan became a household name and a true legend in the business. With his larger-than-life persona, incredible athleticism, and unwavering dedication to his craft, he became a role model for millions of fans around the world. Hogan’s matches were always a spectacle, and he had a rare ability to capture the attention of the audience from the moment he entered the arena. It turns out that his creative influence also helped shape some creative ideas behind-the-scenes.

While wrestling fans recognize Hulk Hogan by his numerous accolades in the industry, he is also responsible for coming up with the name of an iconic WWE Hall of Famer, Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake.

During a recent episode of the Talk is Jericho podcast, Brutus Beefcake revealed that Hulk Hogan helped come up with his wrestling name when he started in WWE in 1984.

“Vince’s wife [Linda McMahon] thought up the name ‘Beefcake. So that’s how it went. Hulk Hogan and Vince sat in the office … [and] Hulk says, ‘What about Brutus? What about Brutus Beefcake?’”

Brutus Beefcake also mentioned that while he wasn’t thrilled with the name, he realized that it was a name that people will always remember.

Despite the name, Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake would go on to have an incredible run in the WWE and even won the Tag Team Championship with Greg Valentine. He was eventually inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019 enabling his legacy to carry on. Stay tuned to Ringside News as we bring you similar stories.
