Sami Zayn has been a pivotal member of WWE ever since he joined the company back in 2014. Zayn has proved himself to be an invaluable star in the company, being part of the most compelling storyline in WWE with The Bloodline. Zayn was unable to beat Roman Reigns at the Elimination Chamber and it seems there was a good reason for this.
At the Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event, Sami Zayn went head-to-head with Roman Reigns for his championship titles in an intense and emotionally charged match. Despite being in his hometown of Montreal, Zayn pushed Reigns to his limits in a thrilling encounter that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Despite his best efforts, Sami Zayn was unable to put down Roman Reigns for the win due to interference from The Bloodline. Afterwards, WWE started a storyline with Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens as well.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was argued that the ratings Zayn is drawing are in conjunction with being linked with the Bloodline and whether he would end up driving viewers away from the story.
The argument was that the ratings Zayn is drawing are in conjunction with being linked with the Bloodline, and would he draw television viewers away from storyline? But the argument is that they could do that and the storyline continues particularly with the Usos and Sikoa along with Reigns now trying to eliminate Zayn, which should be the storyline now as well. The Zayn story, coming off losing to Johnny Knoxville last year, has been a gigantic success.
It’s noted that Bloodline are still the top merchandise sellers and Rhodes is very hot as well. There was definite fear of “Sami” chants during the Rhodes promo on Raw in Ottawa, which is why they did the promo the way they did, with no down time to allow chants to develop, which would have started the wrong momentum. But that didn’t happen. The Rhodes-Paul Heyman segment was flatter this week, but I don’t sense it’s anything to worry about.
WrestleMania was guaranteed to be a major business success just based off the name and the current company momentum, no matter what the key matches end up being. But the hottest feud by far in Mania season is the Zayn program with Reigns.
WWE also might have accidentally spoiled Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens’ WrestleMania 39 plans. Regardless, we will have to wait and see how the company will be booking Sami Zayn’s storyline in the coming weeks.
