Dominik Mysterio had a successful start to his WWE career. He started in an important storyline with Seth Rollins before he won the tag titles alongside his father Rey Mysterio. However, their relationship soured when Dominik turned on his father at WWE Clash at the Castle Premium Live Event and aligned himself with The Judgment Day.
Since then, he has wasted no opportunity to insult and harass his father. Dominik often mentioned Rey Mysterio’s name on RAW in a degrading fashion. In fact, the harassment was so severe that it caused Rey to switch brands and move back to SmackDown.
None of that stopped Dominik as he attacked his father on Thanksgiving and attempted to do the same on Christmas but wound up in jail instead. For several weeks, Dominik has been trying to provoke his father to hit him, but Rey has somehow managed to restrain himself.
During a recent interview with Cheap Heat, Dominik discussed a potential matchup against the legendary luchador at WrestleMania 39. Dominik noted that Rey was happy to put his hands on him when he was a kid but now that he is taller, Rey doesn’t want to anymore.
“I think it would definitely be a full story moment, I just don’t know if he’d do it man. I don’t know if he has it in him to put his hands on me. Yeah, he would do it when I was a kid. He’d be more than happy to come home and put his hands on me and discipline me when I was a kid but now that I’m five, six inches taller than him, he doesn’t [want to]. Is this not true? Is this not factual? He is 5”4, I am 6”1. I don’t know if he is scared of me, but he definitely doesn’t want any. Like I said, I’ve put my hands on him, I’ve 619ed him, I’ve thrown him against the post, I’ve betrayed him, I’ve ruined his holidays. I don’t know what else I can do at this point. I just don’t know if he has it in him to put his hands on me to be honest.”
Dominik Mysterio stated this past week on RAW that he will pay his father a visit this week on SmackDown. It will be interesting to see what transpires this week on the blue brand.
We’ll have to see what goes down this week on SmackDown, because the road to WrestleMania will likely see this father/son feud continue. Stay tuned to Ringside News for live coverage of WWE SmackDown.
