Kenny Omega is one of the finest athletes in the history of professional wrestling. Omega is currently signed to AEW as an in-ring performer as well as the Executive Vice President of the company. As a performer in AEW, Omega is currently one-third of the AEW World Trios Champions with The Young Bucks in their record-setting second reign.
On his latest Hall Of Fame podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T weighed in on the reports of WWE being interested in signing Kenny Omega. The Cleaner’s deal with AEW may be coming up relatively soon unless Tony Khan adds time to the contract to make up for the period Omega missed action due to injuries.
“Of course they can recover from it. Losing someone like Kenny Omega, that would be a big loss. That would be huge, that really, would. Just because he was one of those guys who put that thing all together. He was one of the brains behind AEW.”
Booker T believes it would be a huge loss for AEW if Kenny Omega does indeed jump ship. However, Tony Khan’s company can still recover from it should that day ever arrive.
“I don’t know how many years Kenny Omega has left in the ring. WWE would make Kenny Omega’s star shine brighter than any other place he ever could be in. If Omega was to sign with WWE, he would likely be presented as one of their biggest stars and potentially work at WrestleMania.
The Cleaner switching over to WWE would instantly present Paul “Triple H” Levesque with a blockbuster WrestleMania booking – AJ Styles vs. Kenny Omega. The former Bullet Club leaders are arguably the two best in-ring performers in the world, and intense athleticism and expert storytelling would mark the match they would deliver.
“If you don’t work at WrestleMania, you know throughout your career, you missed out on something. I can understand why Kenny Omega would want to mix it up with AJ Styles, two of the best at what they do, at WrestleMania.”
In September 2022, Kenny Omega was suspended from AEW television due to his involvement in the backstage altercation with CM Punk and Ace Steel post-AEW All Out. He and The Young Bucks returned to AEW programming in November.
It’s unknown whether Kenny Omega would ever sign with WWE considering his highly personal relationship with AEW. However, considering The Cleaner is gradually approaching his twilight years, fans would definitely want to see Omega perform at WrestleMania before the former Bullet Club leader hangs up his boots.
