After a 13-month hiatus from the ring, Beth Phoenix made her return to the squared circle this past weekend at WWE Elimination Chamber. Phoenix tagged with her husband Edge to take on The Judgment Day’s Rhea Ripley and Finn Balor. The Grit Couple emerged victorious as Phoenix nailed Balor with the Shatter Machine for the win.

At the post-show press conference for WWE Elimination Chamber, Beth Phoenix discussed her return to in-ring action. The Glamazon addressed the complexity of sporadically returning for performances now that she’s no longer an active, full-time Superstar.

“I knew I had to put in the extra hours, the consistency in the gym to be able to stand toe to toe and bring it because it’s difficult. At home, I am a mom, I spend a lot of my time raising our children, taking them to school, being soccer mom, and it’s kind of compartmentalizing the killer instinct that you need to get in the ring and do what we do.”

Beth Phoenix also touched on her training with Edge ahead of WWE Elimination Chamber.

“We take some time to go to the ring and train on off days and put in a special effort for that. Because, again, the women’s division now is incredible and I definitely wanted to be able to hang.”

Beth Phoenix was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class Of 2017. Her induction made her the quickest female to be inducted after her retirement from wrestling. After hanging up her boots, Phoenix switched to commentary and worked as a full-time NXT commentator from 2017 to 2021. Now she is back for a short stint in WWE, but she has a unique roster listing.

Beth Phoenix returned at the 2023 Royal Rumble, spearing Rhea Ripley before walking off with Edge. She then appeared on the following RAW to do the same when The Judgement Day attempted to assist Finn Bálor in his match against Cody Rhodes.

It remains to be seen what plans WWE has in store for Beth Phoenix at WrestleMania 39. While it’s likely for The Glamazon to compete at WrestleMania, the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view might be Beth’s final match before fans get to see her wrestle again.
