WWE & AEW Are Both Interested In Signing Former World Champion

AEW is always looking to add big names to their roster, in some hope that they will pop a viewership number. Tony Khan has his eye all over the indies, and he is well aware that Kota Ibushi is a free agent. That being said, WWE is also interested in Ibushi’s services.

We previously reported that Dark Puroresu Flowsion spoke to Kota Ibushi where they stated, “just spoke with Kota Ibushi. He has HIGH interest in AEW but said he would not rule out WWE currently “Of course, I’m interested in it. I’m good at producing players & I’ve created stars, so I don’t think there’s anyone who can control me even in that frame. I live so freely.”

During the In The Kliq podcast, Tony Khan revealed that he would love to have Kota Ibushi in AEW. The door is not closed at all for the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion’s debut.

“I would love to have Kota Ibushi here. Kota Ibushi has wrestled in Ring of Honor in the past and has a great history wrestling in Japan and in America and is a top free agent and that’s somebody we would love to have here if the deal is right and the timing is right.”

We’ll have to see what Kota Ibushi decides to do. Of course, 2023 is just getting started, and only time will tell what the pro wrestling landscape will look like in a year’s time.

For what it’s worth, WWE was said to be interested in bringing in a name bigger than Jay White. It’s hard to think of any free agent with a name bigger than Jay White, but Kota Ibushi certainly has a huge presence in the pro wrestling world.
