WWE had to make a tough call and release AOP from their contracts, and neither member has made much noise in the pro wrestling business since then. That being said, Akam and Rezar are still in great shape, and it seems that they could be on their way back to the company.
Sean Sapp noted behind Fightful’s paywall that WWE is interested in bringing the Authors of Pain back. It was further noted that Paul Ellering would be the man involved in bridging those communications.
We had mentioned recently that WWE had been interested in the Authors of Pain. Those we’ve spoken to say the duo have an incredible amount of loyalty to Paul Ellering, and that Ellering would be heading up negotiating the deal.
Vince McMahon did a lot of things to change Triple H’s NXT creative throughout their time working in those roles. Paul Ellering didn’t last long as the AOP’s manager after his main roster call-up, but that was not Ellering’s doing. Vince McMahon just made the call to break them up, but it seems that Triple H might bring them back together. Only time will tell what they do on the WWE main roster under Triple H’s control, but they’d certainly be in better hands.
AOP did have a run as tag team champions under Vince McMahon’s creative direction, but they were a much more dominate force under Triple H’s booking in NXT. A lot of things can happen on the road to WrestleMania. So, it’s anyone’s guess whether we will see AOP’s WWE return go down in SoFi Stadium.
