Cody Rhodes punched his ticket to the main event of WrestleMania 39 by winning the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble. The American Nightmare last eliminated GUNTHER in a thrilling contest at the Alamodome three weeks ago. Sami Zayn’s tenure with The Bloodline also came to a shocking end in the main event of the January 28th premium live event. Sami betrayed the group by hitting Roman Reigns with a steel chair to the back. The rest was history.
The former Honorary Uce challenged Roman Reigns to a title match in the main event of Elimination Chamber two week ago on WWE SmackDown. The Tribal Chief accepted the challenge and promised to embarrass the former Sami Uso in front of his family and friends in Montreal.
The main event of the chamber will determine who will emerge as Cody Rhodes’ opponent for the show of shows. Although Cody Rhodes is adamant on finishing his story, that is winning the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, he doesn’t have a preference when it comes to the direction of the WrestleMania 39 main event. Speaking to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Rhodes welcomed the idea of taking on Reigns and Zayn at the same time.
“No, I don’t really have a preference. Solely because I want to wrestle the best. People wanted a contender forever. So if two show up, don’t be mad. Don’t make it about A or B, or B or A, or one or two. Enjoy it all. That’s really been kind of the challenge. I can’t begrudge a dude for getting super hot. I have no preference in terms of the direction it goes. I really look forward to the moments when I’m in there if they happen, Sami, whether that’s just on the Road to WrestleMania, because I think it’s different than people think. I think he’s doing amazing.
“So yeah, bring it all together. Hey, who knows? Who knows what happens in Montreal? Who knows what happens at WrestleMania? One of the reasons I keep serene, peace, and calm is because I don’t know what’s gonna happen. I’m not the Executive Vice President label. I still think like some people think I’ve got that EVP stroke, I barely had it in the first place. Like I said, I want to play quarterback, I want to get in the game, and I’ll compete for that position.”
Sami Zayn showed up on RAW this week to have a conversation with Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare said he believed in Sami and that the former Honorary Uce should finish his story at the Elimination Chamber premium live event. Stay tuned to Ringside News for more from the world of pro wrestling.
