Summer Rae’s first run in the WWE was quite successful. Although she competed in NXT alongside Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks, she is also remembered for her time as Fandango’s dance partner. Despite being popular with the crowd and getting over, Rae was never able to win any gold during her time with the company.

There were rumors doing the rounds that Summer Rae was supposed to win the WWE Divas Title at WrestleMania 30 from AJ Lee. The former WWE Superstar has refuted the rumors during a virtual signing for “Golden Ring Collectibles.

“What match was I even in?” Rae asked.

Summer Rae challenged AJ Lee for the title at WrestleMania 30 in a 12-women Vickie Guerrero Divas Championship Invitational match which Lee ended up winning.

Although Summer Rae’s recollection of the match isn’t completely accurate since she recalls Saraya being part of the match, she recalled that there was a big spot planned for the match that she had removed.

“I did have a really big spot, and they were trying to go home, so I took it out. And then Saraya hit her big spot afterwards and then everyone hit their big spots. I do regret [not doing] that, I should’ve just done it. I was really scared of it, and I pushed it in practice and Lita was helping me. And then I never did it. It was something off the top rope. Someone had someone up in a suplex, and I was going to crossbody the person down.”

Summer Rae’s run with WWE ended in 2017 when she was released from her contract. Following her release, she wrestled a bit in the Indies before returning to the company for a brief run in 2022.

We’ll have to see if Summer Rae ever makes her way back to WWE, but she certainly looks to be in great shape. Stay tuned to Ringside News as we bring you similar stories.
