Cody Rhodes is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in all of WWE ever since he returned during WrestleMania 38 last year. Fans are clearly behind him and his own father Dusty Rhodes’ legacy, which they feel he lives up to. In fact, Cody Rhodes would love to be involved in the NXT Dusty Classic tournament.
Each year since 2015, the “WWE NXT” brand has hosted the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament, an event that awards the winning duo with not only a sought-after trophy, but also a chance to compete for the “NXT” Tag Team Championships. Last year, WWE elevated the tournament to new heights by introducing a women’s version, which was won by Alba Fyre and IYO SKY.
That being said, it has yet to be confirmed whether the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Fans have also wondered whether Cody Rhodes himself would be involved in the tournament in some capacity.
While speaking with Daily Mail, Cody Rhodes was asked if he would get involved in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Rhodes made it clear that he would love to present the trophy if nothing else.
“When it comes to the Dusty Classic I’d love to do anything to be involved. It’s obviously more NXT and that’s where we’re developing tomorrow’s superstars today and you want to keep it in their wheelhouse. But I’d be more than happy to hand potentially Pretty Deadly that trophy or a different team ’cause there’s so much good going on down there.”
Cody Rhodes is also a huge draw in WWE right now. Cody Rhodes is set to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 39. We will have to wait and see whether Rhodes can win the match.
