Roman Reigns is still on a roll as Elimination Chamber is on the horizon on February 18th. He has Sami Zayn ahead of him, but over the last years, Roman Reigns has done a lot with his character. Now we have an inside look at what makes him tick.
While speaking to Variety’s Joe Otterson, Paul Heyman broke down Roman Reigns’ WWE character in a way that has never been laid out before. This could give fans a bit of introspection regarding the motivation behind Roman Reigns’ character.
“These people that worshipped him that he ruled over, that gave him anything and everything, that wanted to sacrifice for him, put such a pressure and burden — and that’s the word that we always use for the Tribal Chief is the burden — the burden of the responsibility, the burden of the obligation to fulfill the the destiny and the vision for and the obligation and the responsibilities and the accountabilities of the Tribal Chief. He resented them so much for placing that burden on him,” Heyman said.
Paul Heyman continued to explain that, “[Roman’s] character is based on the concept of being relevant. That relevancy in and of itself is the opioid that he’s addicted to. That being one of many would be would be the same as being assassinated.”
We will have to see how things transpire on the road to WrestleMania 39. Roman Reigns has certainly proved his dominance to a lot of people, as her bulldozed over the entire WWE roster for two years. Only time will tell if Roman Reigns was able to prove that to himself.
