With the Road To WrestleMania fully underway, Superstars are slowly finding their tune with regard to WWE’s biggest show of the year. WWE Hall of Famer Edge is expected to be part of this year’s WrestleMania. The Rated R-Superstar was also planned to wrestle a member of The Judgment Day at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, but unfortunately, those plans didn’t materialize.

WWE was planning for Edge to face Finn Balor at the Royal Rumble. The two Superstars were set to settle their differences in a Hell in a Cell match, yet the bout didn’t end up coming to fruition. Edge was filming a television show leading up to the Rumble and thus couldn’t be involved in the planned match.

Edge will be teaming up with Beth Phoenix to take on Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley at WWE Elimination Chamber on February 18th. While the booking is nothing less than fabulous, it appears WWE is saving Brood Edge vs. The Demon King for a later date, perhaps WrestleMania itself. As Ringside News exclusively reported, WrestleMania could get a Hell in a Cell match.

According to Fightful Select, WWE had chalked out the plans for Edge & Beth Phoenix vs. The Judgment as early as November. It’s not so often that WWE sticks to plans made several months ago without at least a few revisions along the way.

“Edge & Beth Phoenix vs. Judgment Day at WWE Elimination Chamber was also the plan dating back to the fall, but there was also an Edge vs. Finn Balor match planned for Royal Rumble that didn’t end up happening.”

It’s worth noting that plans made this early almost always get moved, scrapped, or changed. These planned matches cannot be considered official until officially announced by WWE.

In recent times, there have been discussions regarding Beth Phoenix wrestling again, much like her husband Edge. While The Glamazon didn’t participate in the Royal Rumble, it’s safe to assume that the Elimination Chamber match could be a nice warm to whatever match WWE may have in store for Beth at WrestleMania 39.
