This week’s edition of Monday Night RAW saw Carmella return to action for the first time in nearly a year. The Princess of Staten Island came back to WWE programming after overcoming an extremely personal battle and is looking to cement her spot at the top of the women’s division. Moreover, she recently fired back at two wrestling journalists who berated her with some comments.
Carmella picked up a huge win on RAW, defeating Michin Mia Yim, Candice LeRae, and Piper Niven to qualify for the upcoming Women’s Elimination Chamber match. However, this prompted wrestling journalists Vince Russo and Dr. Chris Featherstone of Sportskeeda in a now-deleted tweet, to state that they would have rather seen Piper Niven win the match.
“”We’ve gone through the well with Carmella a million times.” In our recent episode of ‘Legion of RAW’ with @chrisprolific, the former #WWE writer @THEVinceRusso discusses the return of the former Women’s champion #Carmella. Full episode: https://youtube.com/live/ogKCm0hjQnA?feature=share #TripleH #WWERaw.”
Moreover, they even took shots at Carmella’s credibility as a legitimate top star on the roster. Mella was not going to let it go and blasted them on Twitter, listing the female superstars she has defeated in her career and claiming that her ‘pinky finger’ had more charisma than both of them combined.
“Lololol not in that same conversation?? Allow me to list the women I have wins over: Charlotte Asuka Becky Bayley Sasha Bianca Liv Alexa The list goes on and on I have more charisma in my pinky finger than both of these jabronies COMBINED. PUT SOME DAMN RESPECT ON MY NAME!!!”
Carmella has been a mainstay for the WWE women’s division ever since she came to the main roster in 2016. She has also been an accomplished athlete, winning the SmackDown Women’s championship and the Money in the Bank contract.
The Princess of Staten Island took a hiatus from WWE, following the night after WrestleMania 38. Carmella was pregnant sometime afterward, but suffered a miscarriage and took a lot of time to recover from the tragedy.
Carmella came back to WWE television programming on the January 30, 2023 episode of Raw. She reverted back to her old character and is looking to reclaim her place back in the conversation as one of the top stars of the women’s division.
