Tony Khan has taken All Elite Wrestling from an upstart promotion and molded it into proper competition to the global juggernaut WWE. AEW will begin live events soon as well and it seems talent believe they will be invaluable for the company.
The company will be running live events on select weekends with a series entitled “AEW House Rules.” The series kicks off on March 18th in Troy, Ohio.
According to Fightful’s paywall, several talent said that they knew something like this had been coming for a while. One talent stated that they would rather get their in-ring reps in while in AEW than working outside of the company for many reasons.
Another talent noted how the live events will benefit younger or more inexperienced talent, and expect to see some creative matches that will help them grow as performers.
It was added that talent said being able to work longer matches on the road against more experienced wrestlers will be invaluable. It was also noted that a majority of the AEW talent do have a set number of maximum dates in their contracts that the company rarely even comes close to approaching on a yearly basis.
The talent that Fightful spoke to expect the shows to be filmed, which is the norm for all major companies, but there is currently no word to distribute them. We’ll have to see how the live events will turn out for fans.
