Double or Nothing is one of the biggest events of the year for AEW. It was the first-ever pay-per-view event to be produced by the Jacksonville-based promotion. The inaugural Double or Nothing PPV event took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 25, 2019.
Since its debut, Double or Nothing has coincided with Memorial Day Weekend, and Tony Khan wants to maintain the tradition this year as well. The AEW President recently appeared on the Mark Hoke Show wherein he confirmed that AEW’s May show will return to Las Vegas.
“I can’t wait. I really believe we’ve built something really special in Las Vegas with Double or Nothing weekend for the local fans in Vegas and fans who travel all over the world to be part of Double or Nothing every year. Absolutely, as long as I can make it happen, which I think will be for many decades to come, I expect Double or Nothing to be part of the Las Vegas calendar and Memorial Day in Las Vegas is about AEW now. Memorial Day weekend is a very important American holiday and we’ve built a nice tradition there over the weekend, and on Sunday in particular, we’ve had a lot of success, and I would love to Double or Nothing in Las Vegas and I expect to.”
Going by Khan’s words, this year’s Double or Nothing will fall on Sunday, May 28. This comes just days after AEW announced the launch of non-televised live events in select markets across the country.
