Roxanne Perez is one of the youngest and brightest talents prevailing in the WWE NXT landscape. Not only did she gain recognition at such an early age, but Perez also managed to climb to the top of the mountain in only months of her WWE debut. However, it looks like she decided to refer to former Women’s champion AJ Lee with a surprisingly different name while recreating her old picture.

Roxanne Perez was a huge fan of the women’s division back in the day when AJ Lee reigned at the top. Perez recently commented on a picture of her recreating an old picture of AJ hugging her championship, placed in a collage by a fan on Twitter.

“My monthly hi mom @TheAJMendez.”

AJ Lee has been regarded as one of the early pioneers who paved the way for the movement that came to be known as the Women’s Revolution. During her time in WWE, she became a bonafide top star of the women’s division battling the likes of Kaitlyn, Bella Twins, Paige, and Natalya.

Not only that, AJ Lee shared the screen space with some of the top names in the business namely John Cena, CM Punk, Dolph Ziggler, and Kane. Her storylines with the aforementioned stars were widely regarded and cemented AJ’s status as a top attraction.

Furthermore, AJ Lee reigned atop the WWE women’s division as a 3-time WWE Divas champion. However, she decided to take voluntary retirement from wrestling in 2015 and has been busy pursuing other ventures ever since.

Roxanne Perez’s response is definitely indicative that AJ Lee was among her role models. Perez ended the historic NXT Women’s title reign of Mandy Rose in December 2022 to win her first Women’s title and recently made her first successful defense against Toxic Attraction members, Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne at Vengeance Day.
