The road to WrestleMania 39 officially kicked off with last week’s Royal Rumble event, which took place in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The show saw its fair share of shocking and exciting moments including monumental returns and amazing match finishes. Moreover, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle recently stated that the end to the Women’s Rumble match was the best he had seen in years.

Kurt Angle recently spoke about the entire Rumble event. He praised the Women’s Royal Rumble match, calling it worthy of getting five stars easily and emphasizing more on the finish of the match during the recent episode of the Kurt Angle Show podcast.

“I thought it was a great Royal Rumble and I’m not gonna lie to you the women’s finish of the women’s Royal Rumble was the best finish I’ve seen in years. Rhea Ripley — the way that that match ended was incredible. I was so impressed by it. I have to give the women five stars for that match.”

The end of the 30-woman over-the-top-rope melee saw Asuka spit the blue mist in Liv Morgan’s eyes as the duo hung on the ring apron. This gave Rhea Ripley the opening to eliminate the Empress of Tomorrow.

Furthermore, the last spot in the match saw Rhea Ripley hanging from the ropes with Liv Morgan looking to eliminate The Nightmare. However, Ripley used the hurricanrana to flip Morgan off the apron and secure her opportunity for a main event championship match at WrestleMania 39.

The night also saw the return of Cody Rhodes from injury after months, entering the Men’s Royal Rumble match at #30. He went on to win his Rumble match and punch his ticket for WrestleMania 39. Kurt Angle further stated that he is hoping to see both rumble winners come off with victories at The Show of Shows.

“Without a doubt, I think those matches are going to be really, really good. You know, Cody Rhodes. I’m expecting him to win this thing. I think it’s his time and Rhea Ripley, I wouldn’t doubt if she won it, too. She’s been up and coming. She’s been pretty strong lately. So, you never know.”

Two blockbuster matches have already been announced for WrestleMania 39. Cody Rhodes will look to dethrone Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal championship, while Rhea Ripley will try to seek revenge from Charlotte Flair for giving her a major loss at WrestleMania three years in a match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
