WWE Hall of Famer Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts has been part of the AEW since 2020. Roberts started out in AEW by managing Lance Archer, and the partnership proved to be somewhat of a success. That being said, it seems the company discussed using a mechanical snake for Roberts at one time, but nixed the idea due to its price tag.
Jake Roberts worked in WWE for a long time and knows how Vince McMahon functions. In fact, he even blasted Vince McMahon previously for humiliating people in WWE. He is also a veteran, so his opinion carries weight.
Jake Roberts used to strike fear in the hearts of his opponents with his eerie promos and real-life snake. Roberts has made several appearances on AEW TV, but his iconic snake has only made a solo appearance once during that time period.
While speaking on The Snake Pit with Jake Roberts, Jake Roberts revealed that AEW discussed having Roberts use a mechanical snake. However, the idea was scrapped due to its price tag.
“To have the snake move like a snake and come up and open its mouth and all that sh*t … I would love that,” he said. “I wouldn’t mind traveling with that, put it in a small suitcase and throw it overhead.”
