Cody Rhodes’ WWE return was heavily hyped via video packages and fan anticipation. He went on to win the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble match after entering in the #30 spot, cementing his place at WrestleMania 39. Although his opponent, Roman Reigns, is known to travel between brands, that doesn’t seem to be WWE’s plan for Cody Rhodes.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Cody Rhodes is back with WWE full-time. That being said, he will not pull double-duty as the company makes their way toward WrestleMania 39. In fact, he will be a red brand Superstar, but you never know if any SmackDown bookings could sneak their way onto his schedule.
As of this writing, WWE seems to have plans for Cody Rhodes to remain on RAW. This is a very interesting idea considering that his WrestleMania opponent current reigns over both brands.
Rhodes starts full-time on the road this weekend with the shows on 2/4 in Columbus, GA and 2/5 in Pensacola, FL. He is scheduled for all Raw TV shoots but right now is not scheduled for any Smackdown shoots, but would likely be on some leading into WrestleMania
Cody Rhodes’ WWE return was a long time coming, and he had an incredible story to tell along the way as well. WrestleMania is his destination, but the American Nightmare will seemingly keep his feet planted on Monday nights as the company makes their way down the road to WrestleMania 39.
We will have to see what WWE has in store for Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. Their plans could surprise us, because Rhodes has made it clear that he wants the title that eluded his father for his entire career.
Keep checking back with Ringside News as we continue monitoring this, and every other situation, going on in the pro wrestling world.
