Shawn Michaels Is Hoping To See NXT Call-Ups Around WrestleMania 39

WrestleMania is that time of the year when NXT talents are called up to the WWE main roster. While a call-up doesn’t guarantee anything, it’s still the first step towards building a promising career on RAW and SmackDown. Over the years, several NXT call-ups have established themselves as legitimate main roster stars, and WWE is already looking to build the next batch of RAW/SmackDown stars on the Road To WrestleMania 39.

During Thursday’s NXT conference call, WWE Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative, Shawn Michaels discussed the upcoming NXT call-ups for the WrestleMania 39 season.

“I do know that per tradition, as you say, usually around WrestleMania is when people feel that those call-ups and things like that are possible. That’s my feeling as well, that’s my hope. But right now there’s been no information given on any of that kind of stuff right now, and I’ll say look, everybody is concentrated on WrestleMania. This is a big year, this is the big year for all of us here in WWE. And so all hands are on deck to make sure things go as well as they possibly can.”

It remains to be seen which NXT stars get called up to the main roster en route to WrestleMania 39. So far, Bron Breakker, Cameron Grimes, Roderick Strong, JD McDonagh, and Indi Hartwell seem like the most likely candidates to move up the ladder.

“I’m just doing my best to man the ship to the best of my ability, and I don’t wanna be applying any ointments. So right now whatever it is there ready to talk, we’re obviously here and I’m ready to go.”

In the past, certain NXT Superstars have been shown the door following their min roster call-ups while others had to move back to the black-and-gold brand due to a lack of opportunities in the big leagues. The 2022 NXT call-ups will indeed be vital for WWE, considering many top main eventers are either approaching their forties or switching to a lighter schedule.

This past December, Shawn Michaels noted that there are seven NXT Superstars ready for WWE main roster call-ups. Only time will tell which names get added to the RAW and SmackDown roster en route to WrestleMania 39.
