Charlotte Flair’s frequent title wins in WWE have continuously frustrated fans, who feel she is overbooked to the core. However, her exceptional in-ring skills are something no one can deny. That being said, her most recent title win was something she came to know on the day of the show itself.
On a previous episode of Friday Night Smackdown, Ronda Rousey lost the Smackdown Women’s Championship to Charlotte Flair in a surprising outcome. This resulted in a shocking return for The Queen.
Surprisingly enough, Charlotte Flair was actually cheered after she won the Smackdown Women’s Championship, something she has gone on record saying that she genuinely did not expect the warm reception.
While speaking on Ryan Satin on Out of Character, Charlotte Flair revealed that she came to know she was going to win the Smackdown Women’s Championship on the day of the December 30th show.
“I didn’t find out I was winning the title until I got there. I didn’t have gear with me. My amazing cleaning lady brought me my gear. I should have known better. I’m coming to a wrestling show, I just brought my outfit. I thought it was just going to be a walkout surprise because I had been gone for so long, I really didn’t need to be any major fireworks, but when I got there they were like, ‘You need your gear.’ I got the call at maybe 5ish that I needed gear, right before I got to the arena. She got to the arena around 7, 7:15.”
Ronda Rousey also wasn’t supposed to lose her title until the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event. She is also set to defend her Smackdown Women’s Championship against Sonya Deville soon. We’ll have to see how the match will turn out.
