Cody Rhodes was out of action since Hell In A Cell last year, in an instant classic match against Seth Rollins. The American Nightmare was on the shelf for a long time due to a torn pectoral muscle, but he made his triumphant return during the Royal Rumble Premium Live event last week. Rhodes has been back in WWE for a while now and it seems both Nick Khan and Bruce Prichard have been very nice to him.

Cody Rhodes made a highly-anticipated return to the ring at the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble, entering at number 30 and immediately revising his feud with arch-nemesis Seth Rollins. The crowd was electric with excitement at Rhodes’ return, and the match instantly became a huge deal all over again.
Cody Rhodes won the big annual match, much to the delight of fans. Naturally, he had odds in his favor and made sure he would go on to headline WrestleMania 39.
The American Nightmare returned to WWE in the midst of internal changes, as Vince McMahon has returned to the company. A lot of questions remain, but Cody Rhodes has received great treatment so far. While speaking to Ariel Helwani of BT Sport, The American Nightmare revealed that he was embarrassed when he suffered the pectoral muscle injury, adding that both Nick Khan and Bruce Prichard were angels to him.
“I was embarrassed, I really was. I was on top of my game. All the measurables of, ‘this is working, we’re selling this, people are tuning in.’ I’m doing it. Then I got hurt bench pressing at my gym. Probably a lot of wrestling was involved in that, but I didn’t know. I was just embarrassed. I’m really sorry. I am. I didn’t want to leave. I had almost a 30-minute match and then had to go get surgery. I was embarrassed.
That was one time where I thought, ‘I’m worried now. Maybe I don’t have it.’ Everyone has doubts, even the most confident people. Maybe I didn’t have it. I’ll tell you two people that really kept me in check, Nick Khan and Bruce Prichard. I don’t know why they have reputations. They’ve been nothing but angels to me. Nick and Bruce don’t see Dusty (Rhodes) when they see me, they see me. That’s big. That’s big with me. They kept me on and never told me, ‘You’re going to do this, this is going to happen.’ Just, ‘get better, get well, we need you back, we’re going to go for it,’ but we never talked about what it was. To be able to come back and punch this ticket, Thank God, just have to stay healthy.”
It how Cody Rhodes’ road to WrestleMania 39 will continue from here. This week’s episode of WWE RAW will give him a perfect opportunity to address that situation. After all, a match against Roman Reigns will certainly be a blockbuster of huge proportions. Rhodes might only want one of Reigns’ titles, the belt which alluded his family for decades.
