The era of today’s WWE finds itself around the Island of Relevancy, led by the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns. The most dominant champion of the modern generation has laid carnage over the landscape and is credited as the flagship star of the company. However, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle believes that Roman’s former cohort Seth Rollins should be at the top of the mountain.
Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins came up together in 2012 as the members of one of the most dominant factions in the history of WWE, The Shield. While it was perceived that both will emerge to become top stars, Reigns was always positioned to be the next flagship star.
While Roman Reigns had a sloppy start and struggled to become ‘The Guy,’ Seth Rollins was always ahead of The Tribal Chief. The Drip God outsmarted Reigns in terms of in-ring ability, mic work, and ability to connect with the audience.
Moreover, Seth Rollins became the first member of The Shield to become World champion, with that also coming at Roman Reigns’ expense at WrestleMania 31. Ever since then, Rollins had beaten Reigns at every major stage and held his own, while Roman was continuously pushed by the management to be the poster boy.
Many fans and critics believe Roman Reigns is the man of WWE today. However, WWE Legend Kurt Angle recently claimed that Seth Rollins should be the top guy. He credited him as the real ‘Head of the Table’ on the latest episode of his podcast, The Kurt Angle Show.
“I really like Seth Rollins. I love the character he’s doing right now. The flamboyant thing. He is such a great wrestler. Such a great talent. I know the company has utilized him a lot in the past couple of years, but I think they don’t utilize them enough. I think this guy should be where Roman Reigns is, on top all the time.”
Roman Reigns had been positioned as the face of WWE, primarily due to his immense size, strong booking, and prestigious family lineage. Seth Rollins, on the other hand, worked his way up to achieve success in WWE due to his hard work, in-ring acumen and being a true dark horse who had to fight for every opportunity he got to become a marquee attraction.
