Taz is one of the true veterans in the world of pro wrestling, as he made a name for himself in ECW and WWE. Taz was one of the mainstays of ECW and an integral part of ECW’s first-ever pay-per-view, Barely Legal. Being a veteran, there are some things that Taz isn’t a fan of and it seems that includes the word ‘banger’ in pro wrestling.
Taz is known to be outspoken and is never afraid to speak his mind if he ever feels like it. This includes even words or phrases in professional wrestling that Taz simply has no liking for.
The term “banger” has recently gained popularity in the wrestling community, used to describe exceptional matches. Both fans and wrestlers have adopted the term and it has become a widely accepted vernacular.
The Brawling Brutes have incorporated it into their promos, as they often vow to deliver banger after banger. Sheamus and Drew McIntyre even called their tag team ‘Banger Bros,’ before WWE decided to ditch that name.
The Human Suplex Machine took to Twitter and commented on a video, where he made it clear he absolutely hates the term ‘banger.’
“banger”. Good gosh I hate that term so f***** much. “GREAT”, “AMAZING” or “AWESOME” is more than fine. If I was still doing my podcast I would do a WHOLE show on that word….than BAN IT. #HateThatCornyS***
Despite Taz’s aversion towards the term, it is likely that the use of “banger” to describe high-quality matches will persist among fans and wrestlers. The term has become ingrained in the wrestling vernacular and shows no signs of losing popularity.
