WWE celebrated the 30th anniversary of RAW at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA this week. The company went to great lengths to make it a memorable night for fans, as they wanted to ensure that they would have something to be excited about. That being said, they had to cancel a huge Roman Reigns segment and to that degree, the company has been hit with a cease and desist letter, courtesy of MLW.
This week’s episode of Monday Night RAW featured the Trial of Sami Zayn segment. Before this change, the show was originally supposed to feature a family acknowledgement ceremony featuring Roman Reigns’ entire family.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was revealed that MLW sent a cease and desist letter to WWE for trying to contact MLW talent. It is likely they were trying to bring members of the Anoa’i and Fatu families for the planned segment.
MLW sources have said that they have sent a cease and desist letter to WWE after the promotion attempted to contact some of its contracted talent to appear on the Raw 30th anniversary show.
One would think it would have been members of the Anoa’i and Fatu family for the planned family acknowledgment ceremony, which ended up falling through.
MLW sources have said Court Bauer told the talent to have WWE reach out to them directly, and didn’t say he wouldn’t allow them to appear, just to go through him. They never did and the segment ended up being canceled for the reasons noted earlier. WWE didn’t respond to questions regarding the cease and desist or the claim.”
Multiple reports have noted that Afa and Sika were “not ready for the trip,” while Rikishi also “got sick” during the week leading up to the show. We’ll keep you updated on this ongoing case.
