There is only one Queen in today’s generation of WWE who has dominated the competition for nearly nine years, and her name is Charlotte Flair. The second-generation star is one of the most gifted athletes who recently returned to WWE television programming and reclaimed her throne. Flair also opened up about her time away from the company recently.

Charlotte Flair dropped the SmackDown Women’s championship to Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania Backlash. Right after that, The Queen was written off television, going on an extended leave of absence.

Charlotte Flair picked up right from where she left off, returning to WWE on the final SmackDown of 2022. Her impromptu match with Ronda Rousey led her to regain the Smackdown Women’s championship, making her a 14-time champion.

However, The Queen decided to reflect on her time away from the company. Charlotte Flair got married to Andrade El Idolo right after her absence, and spoke about spending time as newlyweds with him and their honeymoon during an interview with The New York Post.

“Usually I’m thinking, even if I do go to the beach while I’m working I could go for a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, but I’m thinking, ‘what am I doing on TV Friday, where are my live events?’ To completely be disconnected and in the moment was so nice and getting that one-on-one time with Manny [Andrade] that I never have had before, it was priceless.”

Charlotte Flair further elaborated on her time away from WWE, citing dental issues as another reason that she had since childhood. Flair underwent multiple procedures right after her honeymoon, following which she could not be hit in the face for weeks. This explains why Charlotte was off WWE TV for so long.

“I had to,” she said. “I didn’t have a choice but to take care of these issues.”

Charlotte Flair is back on the top as the SmackDown Women’s champion, but her issues with former champion Ronda Rousey might not be over. The former UFC Bantemweight champion will surely come after The Queen for giving her one of the most embarrassing losses of her career and striking at her own time.

Will Charlotte Flair still be the champion until WrestleMania 39? Sound off in the comments!
