Ricochet appears to be on his way up in WWE once again, and it’s anyone’s guess how far this push will go. He is one of the world’s most acrobatic wrestlers, and his list of impressive matches precedes him. Ricochet recently shared his thoughts on Smackdown star Braun Strowman’s controversial tweets following WWE Crown Jewel 2022.
In a match between two of WWE’s biggest performers, Braun Strowman defeated Omos in November. Following the widely appreciated match, he tweeted that fans care more about monsters and giants than high-flying “floppy floppers.”
Ricochet formed an on-screen alliance with Strowman soon after Crown Jewel. He was asked to comment on The Monster of All Monsters’ remarks in an interview with Digital Spy’s Stephanie Chase.
I think the internet cares more about it than the wrestlers do. For the most part, everybody backstage, they just want to make something together. They want to make a work of art for you guys. I don’t think anyone really cares about the styles of anyone else. So, if you’re really hearing it, it’s usually from more of the internet speakers than it actually is the locker room.
Braun Strowman received backstage backlash following his tweet. According to one wrestler, the former Universal Champion “probably doesn’t understand” that WWE requires a variety of in-ring styles. Ricochet surprised Braun Strowman in the SmackDown World Cup semi-finals on November 25th, 2022, thanks to Imperium’s intervention.
A week later, The One and Only defeated Santos Escobar to win the eight-man tournament. After their one-on-one match, Ricochet and Strowman formed an unlikely alliance. On the December 23rd, 2022, episode of SmackDown, the two men teamed up to defeat Imperium’s Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser.
Moving forward, all eyes will be on this Saturday’s 2023 Royal Rumble event. On last week’s SmackDown, Strowman announced his participation in the 30-man tournament. Ricochet, who defeated Top Dolla in a qualifying match, will also compete. Keep an eye on Ringside News for more.
