Adam Cole is one of the most exciting stars in the world of wrestling. While many compare him to the likes of legends like Shawn Michaels, Cole has always been on a path to make his own identity. The current AEW star recently returned to AEW programming and is looking to assess different directions. One of them could potentially be joining a new faction.
The Panama Playboy rose to prominence during his stint in WWE NXT, which began in 2017. Adam Cole was the highlight of the black and gold brand as the leader of the faction, The Undisputed Era, and also emerged as the longest-reigning NXT champion in history.
Adam Cole’s tenure in NXT came to an end in August 2021 after his contract expired, and made his debut in AEW the following month. Cole immediately began carving out his path in AEW with the reformation of his former faction alongside Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish, under the name “The Undisputed Elite.”
However, Cole has been dealing with concussion issues for many months now and had been largely off AEW programming. The former NXT champion made his return on the January 11th AEW Dynamite, announcing that he was ready to compete in the ring.
During his first appearance in the recent episode of Being The Elite series after six months, Adam Cole is seen talking to two unseen friends, looking to be The Young Bucks. They were further revealed to be Dark Order members John Silver and Alex Reynolds, who were trying to recruit Cole to join their stable.
Adam Cole seemed to be excited to join the faction upon hearing John Silver and Alex Reynolds’s pitch. However, he gave them a condition where they can not refer to him as “Budge.” While both agreed to it, their fellow member Evil Uno came into the scene and addressed Cole with the embarrassing name. Adam Cole looked visibly annoyed and insisted on taking some more time before making a decision.
The two Dark Order members coined the name Budge for Adam Cole, referencing the rumors that Vince McMahon had pitched the name for Cole on the main roster in WWE. It is yet to be seen whether Adam Cole will accept Dark Order’s offer, which can help him gain the lost momentum due to months of inactivity.
