It has been two weeks since Vince McMahon took back his position as executive chairman of WWE. Upon being reinstated, he appointed himself and two other people from his inner circle, Michelle Wilson and George Barrios, to the WWE board of directors.
In what has been dubbed a hostile takeover, Vince McMahon had to oust three board members to secure a foothold on his path to becoming chairman again. A lot has changed since Vince McMahon took his exit from the company last year, with his son-in-law Triple H steering the reins of WWE creative. Now that he’s back, many are afraid that things will go back to how they were when Vince ran the company.
WWE CEO Nick Khan believes that things will continue to run under Triple H’s creative direction. Appearing on The Bill Simmons podcast, the CEO relayed a conversation with Vince McMahon, as he alluded that the executive chairman is most concerned with exploring business strategies rather than shaking things up in WWE management.
“I don’t think so. I think Vince is really happy with where the company is at, certainly that is what he has conveyed to me … What he said to me and I’ve certainly experienced is, ‘Okay, I’m 77 now. I want to explore our strategic alternatives. Is there a sale out there? Is there a merger out there? What would make sense most for the company?’.”
As Triple H took over creative after his father-in-law Vince McMahon retired, the new head of creative has reversed many of McMahon’s decisions, such as bringing back superstars laid off by him. Due to this, rumors have started floating around the WWE Universe suggesting animosity between the two. Khan also addressed the rumors stating Triple H and McMahon do not get along.
“There’s always been a lot of Twitter chatter that somehow [Triple H and Vince McMahon] aren’t getting along. I think everybody is getting along just great.”
It looks like things are going to keep running the way they were in the meanwhile. For more updates, stay tuned to Ringside News.
