WWE signed one-legged wrestler Zach Gowen in 2003, and he had a brief stint on the blue brand. The 39-year-old was involved in feuds with some of the biggest names on television at the time, including Vince McMahon and Brock Lesnar. The ex-WWE superstar was recently spotted at WWE SmackDown.
According to his latest tweet, Brock Lesnar’s former WWE rival Zach Gowen attended last night’s episode of SmackDown. Fans still remember The Beast Incarnate’s barbaric beat down of Gowen during a SmackDown match.
It’s been nearly 19 years since Zach Gowan was let go by the Stamford-based promotion. In his tweet, he posed for a photo with his children and thanked WWE for the night at SmackDown in Detroit.
Didn’t expect my first time back in a WWE ring to be with my oldest boys but it was perfect. Thank you @WWE.
Brock Lesnar had reverted to being a full-fledged heel, regularly targeting SmackDown’s babyfaces by August 2003. On August 19th, 2003, during a SmackDown taping, he met Zach Gowen in a singles competition and viciously beat him up in front of his mother.
As a result, Gowen won against The Beast Incarnate by DQ. Fans were ecstatic to see Gowen in a WWE arena again. The company released Gowen in February 2004. He went on to compete in several other promotions as well as on the independent scene.
Zach Gowen stated in 2021 that he was not interested in returning to WWE as a full-time performer. It remains to be seen if Gowen will appear in the Royal Rumble match, but at least he had a great night at SmackDown. You can check out Gowen’s tweet below.
