The Usos are riding high on WWE’s tag team division, but that might not last forever. Triple H’s takeover of WWE creative saw a bit of a change for how they are considered champions.
Triple H took over WWE’s creative direction when Vince McMahon stepped down. Despite McMahon’s return to WWE as Chairman of the Board of Directors, Triple H’s creative vision is still being implemented.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Triple H made a big call about the tag team title situation. He decided that the belts should not be considered the same title, like Roman Reigns’ status as Undisputed Universal Champion. The tag team titles are separate, so The Usos can drop either set by themselves.
“The idea right now on the tag team front is that there are two sets of belts.
“The Usos are champions but the Raw and Smackdown belts are different.
“This is a new Paul Levesque move and it does allow the Usos to lose one set of belts and keep the other.
“It was explained to me that the hope is it makes fans think it’s more likely somebody beats them for one set of belts.”
The Usos were never supposed to hold both titles for this long. RK-Bro’s exit after Randy Orton’s injury gave WWE no real choice but to place both sets of titles on the Bloodline’s resident twins.
We will have to see what happens in this situation. The Usos are a seemingly unbeatable team, but that might not be the case forever. After all, they are set to defend those titles against the Judgment Day now, a stable that also has a ton of momentum.
This is certainly an interesting situation, especially with the road to WrestleMania kicking off at the Royal Rumble on January 28th. Keep checking back with Ringside News for more.
