Jay Briscoe tragically passed away in an automobile accident on Tuesday. Since that terrible news broke, plenty of tributes have poured in. His daughters, Gracie and Jayleigh, were injured in the crash. AEW was not able to hold a tribute show on Dynamite this week, but Tony Khan tried his best for Jay Briscoe till the end.

AEW began the January 18th, 2023, edition of Wednesday Night Dynamite with a tribute to Jay Briscoe. Excalibur offered his condolences to the Briscoe family during the show as well.

However, AEW was unable to hold a proper tribute show during Dynamite this week. This was because WarnerMedia blocked AEW from airing a tribute show for Jay Briscoe, due to his past homophobic comments.

Instead, the company had to film a tribute show for Jay Briscoe after Dynamite concluded. You can check out the spoilers for the tribute show here.

According to a report behind Fightful’s paywall, Tony Khan did all he could for Jay Briscoe at the show. However, his hands were tied in the end and he could not go against WarnerMedia.

We were told that “Tony Khan did all he could for Jay Briscoe” at the show, and it seemed his hands were tied in that.

In related news, Jay Briscoe’s memorial fundraiser raised well over $200K, which is more than four times its original goal. People from all walks of life are showing their support to Jay Briscoe’s family and we couldn’t be happier about that fact.
