Jay Briscoe lost his life in a car accident earlier this week. His death led to an outpouring of grief as fans and peers alike paid their respects. The wrestling world donated massively to Jay’s memorial fundraiser. WWE went out of their way to acknowledge Jay’s passing during their live broadcast of NXT on Tuesday.

WWE once again mentioned the tragic accident during SmackDown tonight. Michael Cole paid his respect to the late great tag team specialist live on air during the opening contest of the WWE Tag Title Contender’s Tournament.

“We would like to send out our condolences to the family of Jay Briscoe. Jay passed away suddenly earlier this week. He and his brother Mark formed one of wrestling’s great tag teams, and many in WWE are paying their respects and sending their condolences.”

AEW was unable to hold a proper tribute show during Dynamite this week. This was because WarnerMedia blocked AEW from airing a tribute show for Jay Briscoe, due to his past homophobic comments.
