Will Ospreay is undoubtedly one of the best wrestlers on the planet. Whatever adjectives you use to describe his in-ring skills just aren’t enough. Ospreay who is aptly nicknamed the Aerial Assassin performs some of the most ridiculous feats during his matches.
While Ospreay is a phenom in the ring, he is the exact opposite on social media. The former IWGP US Champion is known to put out some controversial tweets which have landed him in trouble in the past.
One of his most well-known Twitter feuds was with WWE Superstar Seth Rollins. It all started when Rollins tweeted asking if there was anyone who is as good a wrestler as he is.
“Doubling down. Best pro wrestling on the planet. See that Cruiserweight Triple Threat? And that’s just one night, one match amongst the many. Find anyone else alive who does what I do as well as I do it as often as I do it. Ya can’t. #WWEStompingGrounds #UniversalChampion @WWE,” tweeted Rollins.
Will Ospreay who takes great pride in his craft wasn’t going to shy away from letting The Visionary know that he is still alive meaning that he (Ospreay) is the best wrestler.
“I’m alive,” wrote Osprey.
Rollins didn’t take too kindly to Ospreay’s comment and responded by calling him “little guy” while also praising Ospreay’s long-time rival Ricochet who had just won his first US Title. Will Ospreay then made things more personal by stating that he had wrestled more matches in 2019 than Rollins who responded by suggesting that they compare bank account balances instead.
Will Ospreay was asked about his mean tweets on a recent episode of The Sessions podcast with Renee Paquette where he mentioned that he was dyslexic and he didn’t understand what he was typing until he sent it out.
“I’ve actually done a lot of soul searching with this because I feel like I was an absolute [beep] when it comes to this thing. I feel like I don’t think about what I write it’s because right I’m dyslexic as f**k. I don’t really understand it like I’m being on the Spectrum for [beep] autism and I’ve got mad ADHD. So, I don’t think about it actually, I just do it and then like I feel like I’ve used it as a diary for so long and like I’ve not realizing that I’m tweeting to like hundreds of thousands. I’ll be honest with you I feel like I’ve let myself down and I’ve let down anyone that’s ever wanted to be like a firm support. I’m trying my best to like really not just go back on it but just like try and really mend fences,” Osprey said.
Will Ospreay recently wrestled Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 17 in what can only be described as an instant classic. Although Ospreay lost the match, he certainly gained a lot more fans after the match. Stay tuned to Ringside News as we bring you similar stories.
