The pro wrestling world lost Jay Briscoe on Tuesday, and so many are in mourning. Even Velveteen Dream, who was previously social media silent, had to pay respects.
The tributes continue to pour in for Jay Briscoe. Even WWE, a promotion Jay Briscoe never wrestled for, acknowledged his untimely death on this week’s NXT.
On Tuesday, Velveteen Dream broke his silence on social media to pay tribute to the late wrestler. The former NXT star took to his Instagram story to honor Jay Briscoe.
In April 2020, Velveteen Dream was accused of sending indecent images to underage boys on social media, although the wrestler denied the allegations. Dream was also called out under the Speaking Out movement for sending sexually explicit photos to an underage girl and having “inappropriate communications” with underage boys he was allegedly grooming. WWE reportedly investigated the incident, but found no evidence of wrongdoing against Dream.
In August 2022, Velveteen Dream was arrested twice in Florida. Had it not been for the legal issues that derailed his once-promising career, Dream would’ve been a top-ranked main-event Superstar today. There’s a reason why he hasn’t been online much.
As for the late Jay Briscoe, he was a decorated wrestler throughout his illustrious career. Jay won the ROH World Championship twice, and he captured ROH tag team gold alongside his brother Mark thirteen times. In March of 2022, The Briscoes were nominated to the Ring of Honor Hall of Fame. He will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with Jay Briscoe’s family and friends at this time.
