Roman Reigns has added yet another feather to his cap as Undisputed Universal Champion. The Tribal Chief defeated The Fiend and Brown Strowman in a No Holds Barred Triple Threat match to win the Universal Championship for the second time at Payback 2020. Following his victory over Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38, Reigns became the first Superstar to hold both the WWE Championship and WWE Universal Championship simultaneously. Now, he has another record to crow about.

Roman Reigns has reached 871 days as the Universal Champion, a legendary title reign that has now surpassed GUNTHER’s 870-day NXT UK title reign. The stat was noted by Wrestling Stats & Info on Twitter.

“Today, @WWERomanReigns’s active reign as Universal Champion (2020-Present) reaches 871 days, surpassing @Gunther_AUT’s NXT UK Title reign (2019-2021) for the longest single/consecutive championship reign in the entire @WWE Universe in the last 35+ years. #HeadOfTheTable.”

Roman Reigns and GUNTHER are two of the most dominant Superstars on the WWE roster today. Both men are yet to square off, but it goes without saying that the two will deliver a spectacle when they finally meet in the ring in the future.

GUNTHER had an impressive main roster run in 2022. The Austrian Superstar won his debut match in under three minutes and captured the WWE Intercontinental Championship soon after.

Throughout his 871-day title reign, Roman Reigns defeated the best Superstars WWE has to offer. However, now that The Head Of The Table has officially broken GUNTHER’s record, WWE might use this plot as a possible storyline to get the two to wage war against one another down the road.

Roman Reigns is currently engaged in a feud with Kevin Owens, while GUNTHER has kept himself busy with multiple challengers stepping up to him. With WrestleMania 39 just a few months away, it wouldn’t come off as a surprise if WWE manages to pull off The Bloodline vs. Imperium.
