WWE owns a lot of content, and fans were very happy to have footage from several indie companies available on the WWE Network and Peacock. Those days are about to end.
According to a report from Fightful’s paywall, several indie companies’ deals with Peacock are running out. As of right now, WWE has decided not to renew those deals, and they will no longer offer that indie content.
Several indie events that are featured on Peacock are set to expire, leaving many wondering what’s up.
Fightful Select has learned that as of now, WWE is not continuing independent content on the WWE Network on Peacock. Several of the companies already have plans in order to follow up.
It is important to note that several of those companies do have back-up plans. Some companies that will be affected include Insane Championship Wrestling, EVOLVE, and PROGRESS.
Some of WWE’s top Superstars traveled through those companies. WWE previously highlighted this footage and promoted it as a chance for fans to watch old footage from Superstars of today.
WWE is going through a lot of changes, and it’s unclear whose call this was to nix indie content on WWE’s streaming services. At this time, it appears that any fan who enjoys watching that content will need to binge the rest of it, and prepare to venture out and find those shows elsewhere.
What’s your take on WWE nixing this indie content? Sound off in the comments!
