Dominik Mysterio found a clear direction as a WWE star by aligning himself with The Judgment Day faction. However, during his early beginnings, Dom was asked to smile more, being a babyface at the time. Those days were a bit more awkward for Rey Mysterio’s son.
After starting his career staying aligned with his father, Dominik Mysterio shocked everyone by turning on Rey Mysterio and his partner Edge at WWE Clash at the Castle. He then pledged his allegiance to Finn Balor, Damien Priest, and his now ‘Mami’ Rhea Ripley. The young Mysterio now runs with the crew as a self-centered heel character under Ripley’s tutelage.
Dominik Mysterio recently revealed during his appearance on the K100 podcast with Konnan that he could not match up to the babyface level set by his father, and he felt like an exaggerated version of himself aligned with him. The babyface energy just wasn’t his style as he was told to “smile more.”
“When I first started with my dad, it just seemed like an over-exaggerated version of me. I’m very laid back and very calm, and I just felt like I had to match my dad’s energy. So it was always very like, always smiling because they were like, ‘Dude, you got a great smile, you gotta smile more.'”
Furthermore, Dominik also stated that he prefers being a heel, giving him ample directions and options to explore his character. That energy just didn’t fit Dominik Mysterio’s natural, laid-back, way.

Dominik Mysterio’s on-screen chemistry with Rhea Ripley has been well-appreciated by fans and critics alike. Their constant torment of Rey Mysterio on various occasions is pointing towards a build-up for a ‘Father vs Son’ match, preferably at WrestleMania 39.
