Vince McMahon wasn’t too keen on signing independent wrestlers to WWE. However, things changed after Triple H replaced his father-in-law as the head booker in July 2022. The Game rehired stars who lost their jobs due to budget cuts.
The Triple H regime has been interested in hiring an NWA star for quite some time as well. The wrestler in question is Colby Corino. The 26-year-old won the NWA Championship Series Tournament in 2021. Corino’s deal with NWA expired last month and he’s now headed to WWE as reported by Sean Sapp from behind Fightful’s paywall.
In an update on Colby Corino, he is headed to WWE. We noted that WWE couldn’t legally reach out to him until his deal with NWA was up.
Corino is likely moving to Orlando, Florida in the wake of his free agency where he will spend time at the WWE Performance Center and will get a thorough look from the company.
For those not in the know, Colby Corino is the son of former ECW and NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Steve Corino who currently works as a trainer and producer for NXT.
If remains to be seen if Colby Corino will report to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, within the next few weeks. Stay tuned to Ringside News for more from the world of pro wrestling.
