Dominik Mysterio has made significant progress in his pro wrestling career. His WWE in-ring debut came during an interesting time in company history, and he had to transition into performing in front of the live WWE Universe. That being said, he was also working without an actual contract.

Dominik Mysterio competed in his debut professional wrestling match against Seth Rollins in a Street Fight at SummerSlam 2020. Rollins won the match, but Dominik was thoroughly praised for his efforts. Dominik Mysterio and his father, Rey Mysterio, were making appearances on WWE television for a year up to that point.

The father and son later started working as a team, and they won the RAW Tag Team Championship. All of that wouldn’t have been possible if WWE never inked a deal with Dom.

While speaking to K100 with Konnan & Disco, Dominik Mysterio disclosed that he was not under contract with WWE at the time of his SummerSlam match.

Actually, it was before I went on contract (was the payday that took me by surprise the most), because I was getting paid per show… I did SummerSlam without being on contract. So I got paid for that pay-per-view.

We were in the middle of negotiations so it was all kind of being handled at the time. But in good faith, I was like, ‘Yeah dude, I’ll do it.’ This is an opportunity of a lifetime so I jumped on it but after that SummerSlam and that following — because I did SummerSlam and then Monday Night Raw and then that following week, we did Payback when I tagged with my dad for the first time, like back-to-back, so I got two pay-per-view checks and a couple TV checks in one sitting and that’s when I was like, oh sh-t. This is pretty crazy.

Dominik Mysterio started getting paid through the Payback event on August 30th of that year. He was on a per appearance deal at the time.

In recent memory, Dominik Mysterio is receiving praise for his portrayal of a heel with The Judgment Day on WWE television. The stable also included Rhea Ripley, Damian Priest, and Finn Balor. Keep an eye on Ringside News for more.
